Inspiration: (Authentic) Vintage Swimwear

For me personally,  Grace Kelly is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen on the big screen. I think there are only a handful of women (past and present) who radiate the same beauty, charm, elegance, sophistication and on-screen presence that she does. Actually, some of my favorite style icons are from the past. Recently as I have been scouring the internets and stores for swimwear, I have come to realize that I definitely prefer vintage inspired swimwear. They are still sexy and stylish, but don't have to show off every single inch of your skin. I am not a prude by any means, but for me personally, I wouldn't walk around with just my undergarments on, and some of the swimwear that is considered sexy now days, have less fabric then that!

Coveting & Considering: Helmut Lang

Helmut Lang has always been one of my favorite designers. I am a huge fan of asymmetrical clothes, and no ones does asymmetrical quite like this brand does. The great thing about many of the clothes in the collection is that you can wear them for many years and yet still feel on point.  This brand (and the designer) has suffered from a lot of power shifting and re-branding, however in my opinion, the true, original vision of Lang still continues!

Berenice has such a playful style. I had so much fun trying to emulate her look. In fact, I ended up ordering these pants and will pair them with a very similar sweater I already own. Because my look has longer sleeves, I opted for a red ring to add a pop of colour rather then the bracelet.

I mentioned in this post here that I would be wearing my new Sandro dress to a wedding reception cocktail this weekend. Now I just need a new pair of earrings to go with it. I was thinking perhaps these ones or these ones?

With it being almost 38 degrees (Celsius) in Toronto, I decided to finally try some gourmet Popsicle recipes. I found this one for Raspberry and White Cherry Yogurt Pops at Versus From My Kitchen, which look so refreshing! Any other suggestions?

Inspiration: Alexa Chung

There are probably several thousand posts about Alexa Chung being a fashion inspiration or style icon, and this reason alone has prevented me from  blogging about her myself in the past. However, as I have mentioned in some of my other posts, as much as I appreciate new trends, 'the-moment' must haves and funky persona's, I will always be a 'classic-with-a-touch-of-edge-' kind of girl. Whilst some may appreciate Alexa Chung for her various reasons, I adore her 'classic-with-a-touch-of-edge' looks. I could be wrong, but that is how I interpret her to be. And if that's not what it is, well, whatever it is - I appreciate it!

Coveting & Considering : Crazy Colours

Tie-dye, strange geometric shapes and other crazy combination of colours are popping up everywhere. I was never quite into the colour blocking trend and instead preferred more interesting, colourful patterns such as the ones you see before you. I am also really into tie-dye. I am not referring to those tacky t-shirts you see those crazy couples wear to Disneyland, but instead similar to what you see displayed here. What do you think about some of the items you see here? Is this too risky? Too strange or worth a shot?

The T.Dot Scene: Parts and Labour







Restaurant week in Toronto aka Summerlious, will be starting on June 21. I will be profiling many of the restaurants that I visit during that time. I am so excited as this along with Winterlious are my favorite times of the year. One of the restaurants participating in restaurant week is  Parts & Labour a trendy spot in the cultural hub of Toronto known as Parkdale. I recently brunched there with some friends and tried the blueberry buttermilk pancakes with caramelized banana. I have only one word to describe this meal: yummy! My friends tried various other items off of this brunch menu and they were thoroughly satisfied with their meals. The ambiance was delightful, very modern, clean and rustic. The crowd seemed like trendy foodies. I really recommend this place to anyone in Toronto or visiting. I didn't get a great shot of my pancakes, however I'll leave you with some shots of their other food items.

I am going to Buffalo on the weekend which is about an hour and half south of Toronto, and that means one thing: outlets! I can't wait to scourer the Michael Kors, J Crew, Kate Spade and Off Saks stores. I'm looking to get this and this and this at hopefully fraction of the cost (well probably the slightly modified outlet version). Can't wait!

In My Closet: Birthday Gifts Part II

I wanted to showcase a few more items that I got for my birthday last month as a follow up to this part I.  I consider this post to be a a tribute to my friends and family but also these are items that I love. The first item here is a trendy, in-season item: coral coloured skinny jeans. The second item, a Tiffany & Co. bracelet, is more of a classic item and the box of chocolates I received, my friend brought back from Belgium, and that's something no female can resist!

Random Musings: New England Edition

My recent trip to Dartmouth College reminded me how beautiful the New England area is.I long for the days I use to live there. I am not just talking about Boston and Connecticut (they're beautiful too!) but all of it. From the amazing seafood to the crazy but lovable sports fans to the endless scenic roads, a part of me wishes I still lived in the area (although, Toronto is not too shabby!). I am going to do a few posts about my trip and just the area in general, including the style people portray (you defiantly know who was born and bred in Connecticut versus those that are 'Bah-ston' natives). Opinion: Wedding Relief

The one complaint that I hear from brides about their wedding receptions is how much their feet hurt by the end of the night. Some, even decide to take their shoes off and remain bare foot half way through the reception. Others, opt for 'cute' flip flops {note: flip flops at your wedding are never okay}, or other flats, that don't go well with their wedding dress or the ambiance. Here are some pretty ballet-flat options, where a bride can still look trendy, put-together and be comfortable at the same time. These flats range from around $15 to over $500. Can you guess which is the most economical from the bunch?

This weekend I will be traveling to my graduate school alma matter, Dartmouth College. I will be attending commencement and visiting some friends in the New England area. I am so very much looking forward to visiting the Dirt Cowboy Coffee place in Hanover, where I use to purchase coffee  three times a day.

-SHOPPING-
I am going to visit my old shopping stomping ground. Hanover was a small town, so, having stores like Juliana's Boutique while I was at Dartmouth, gave me some stylish brick and motor shopping relief!

Coveting & Considering: A Garden Party

There is somthing so lovely about dressing up for a garden party. A few weeks ago, my friend attended an event, where the invitation stated 'Garden-Party themed attire'. Even though I was not attending, I was so excited to help her pick out an outfit. I tend to like feminine with an 'edge' type of looks (so not too feminine) but these type of events bring out the 'girly-girl' in me because there is no excuse to look anything but very feminine, demure and pretty.

In My Closet: Sandro Dress

One of my favorite brands is the Parisian, contemporary line, Sandro. There are very few items from their collection that I do not covet or see myself wearing. The clothes are a careful juxtaposition of trendy and classic pieces and it is what I coin as 'forward thinking-versatile'. This dress is one that I have wanted for a few months now and I finally picked it up on sale last week. I am really looking forward to wearing it with minimal accessories, perhaps earrings and a bracelet, as the belt is already a accessory in itself. I'd be happy to hear any suggestions regarding what purse, shoes and jewelry to wear with this dress at a cocktail wedding reception in a couple of weeks!
