In My Closet: Jet-Set to Vegas

As of last night, I found out that I will be in Vegas this Friday to Sunday. A good friend is having her bachelorette there this weekend. Originally I was not going to go because I had some things I had to take care of in Toronto. Just last night I found out that I can actually go! Everyone else already booked their flights and will be there from Thursday - Monday. I am being a bit of a Jet-setter and will leave after work on Friday. I'll definitely pack light but I knew there were some key, versatile items I just had to bring along. To say I'm excited is an understatement! Here are some items I am taking with me. Hopefully I'll have everything I need!

Can't Wait to Meet You Neighbour!

The Target Canada commercial  premiered during the Canadian Oscars Telecast and it is amazing! It features all of the major Canadian cities. I am super proud to sit just 10 feet away from the creative folks that put this all together. The commercial premiered to millions of people last night. I can honestly say this was the first time I was excited to see a commercial over the dresses! This is also the first time the theme song - Mr. Rogers Neighborhood was used outside of the original program  The song remade by Canadian group Dragonette for the commercial was a huge hit. Check it out!

Opnion: Louboutin's At Work

I know this topic has been debated quite frequently in the past, but for any style-conscious gal, this is still the age old question. So here's my story:  Prior to my MBA, I worked for a creative company which owned several fashion magazines. Of course, I owned all but one pair of Louboutin's and I was not about to "waste" them at work. Looking back it would have been the best place to wear them, because it was like NYFW everyday at that place! After my MBA I landed a position with a Management Consulting firm, and I was often conflicted about wearing Louboutin's to work. Right in the heart of the financial district in Toronto, I didn't know if it was overtly fashionable.  Currently, I am back to working for the HQ at a major retailer head office. I completed my Master's in Public Health and work in supporting the Clinics & Pharmacy practices.  Although the company is young, fresh and hip, I work in healthcare, were my direct colleagues are pretty 'stiff''. Spending so many hours a day at work, I would love to wear these shoes, that I quite frankly spent a ton of money on! But, I already have some of the Pharmacy Consultants here poking at my bags, telling me, it must be so nice to be young (I think they think I am younger than I really am), and not have any responsibilities. So would wearing such identifiable shoes elevate and increase that type of commentary? It's annoying because I have always worked so hard! I've had great parents who supported me, but 85% of the time, I have wanted to do everything on my own. Paid for my education  supported charities and made good investments. So what if I spoil myself every now and then? But how do I explain this to judgmental people at work when they see the red soles walk by their desk in the morning?

Anyone else feel the same?

In My Closet: A Green Favorite

Balenciaga Classic Part Time Curry (this seasons colors here)
I do this a lot. I buy something I absolutely adore and then forget about it until years later. Sometimes it's fun to rediscover something after a while, because it feels like a new purchase - especially when it's a classic item. I know this color is not classic per say, but the style is. I love this Balenciaga because it's this wild pop of color that I can add to a neutral outfit or add a 'kick' to a fairly simple assemble.  I still remember the day  I bought this purse 5 years ago! I had just received my bonus and while I put a majority of it away in savings, I still decided to treat myself, and this purse was the treat!

The Top Five: Beauty Items I Can't Live Without

1. Chanel Hydramax and Active Moisturizer
Yesterday, I was taking an inventory of some of the beauty items I use on a daily basis just to make sure that I still had enough of everything.  I can't imagine waking up and not having my favorite moisturizer on hand! That prompted me to gather some of my beauty essentials- products that I just cannot live without and share them with you. Only thing missing here is my Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Passion which can be seen in this post here. What are some of your beauty essentials? If you have done a similar post, feel free to add the link to your comment so I can check it out!

2. Butter Nail Laquer (one for professional occasions, fun and dark)

3. YSL Radiant Touch aka Magic Stick
4. Tarte Cheek Satin in Flush

5. Prada Perfume in Ambree

In My Closet: Pink Parker

Parker Dress
This picture (my sister took my camera) does not do this Fushia pink Parker dress justice. As some of you know, I get really scared by bright colours sometimes. But I decided to make a 'bold' move and get this dress. I absolutely adore it and cannot wait to wear it out! How do you all feel about pink this season? Are any of you afraid of bright palettes like I am?

In my closet: Running Errands

Zara Linen Sweater, Zara Jeans, Over The Rainbow Necklace & Ring, Louis Vuitton Bag

What's the only thing worse about running errands? Running errands in a part of town where you will bump into people you know- and people who will judge you! Seems superficial right? I know. But I can't help feel a little anxious about wearing ratty-looking tights and having my hair look like it's gone through a wind-tunnel. That's why I like to have a outfits on-hand (simple, nothing-special-but-still-appropriate) outfits to run dreadful errands, in not so dreadful areas. I wore this yesterday to get my facial, pick-up dry-cleaning, buy a baby shower gift- oh yeah, I also did some volunteer math tutoring (which wasn't dreadful, but something I always look forward to).

This black and white print puts a 'spin' on the white jeans
Love the detailed trimming of the sweater and this cute ring I picked up on sale for just $4 in Yorkville of all places!
